Message from the CEO

Welcome to the website for the Municipal Health and Safety Association (MHSA)! This website is your primary resource for information about MHSA health and safety services and programs.

The MHSA is the leader in providing health and safety training programs to municipalities in the province of Ontario. Our highly competent staff brings with them many years of education and experience, and can customize programs to meet your individual needs. We offer numerous classroom-based courses. We specialize in hands-on practical training, particularly in our emergency services suite of programs. Please view the photos of our new mobile training unit that enables us to travel across the province to deliver hands on training to emergency services personnel. This presents a significant cost-saving opportunity to our clients through the elimination of travel and accommodation costs, if the employer had to send employees elsewhere for training.

In addition to learning about MHSA training programs on this website, you will also find information about our many other services, including our consultation programs, and the MHSA health and safety management system assessment, which can help you to ensure that your organization measures up to current legislative requirements and has plans in place for continuous improvement in injury and illness prevention.

The MHSA has also solidified many partnership opportunities, which have led to some very exciting new initiatives. Working with the Office of the Fire Marshal (OFM), MHSA programs have become a part of the curriculum at the Ontario Fire College, and we are involved with the OFM on the establishment of similar training programs at the colleges in Blyth and Kingston.

Here you will also find information about some of MHSA's other extended programs. These are programs and services that we offer to our clients in addition to our core business of providing health and safety consultation and training. Many of these extended programs are the result of partnerships that we have established with external organizations and health and safety associations throughout the province. Two such initiatives have enabled us to provide Human Resources and Ability Management and Wellness Programs to our clients through partnerships with third party organizations.

Through our website, you can also access information about the other prevention system partners, including the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board, the Ministry of Labour and the Safe Workplace Associations. Please feel free to visit any of their websites using our links. We are all about focusing on people and helping Municipal Workers enjoy a life uninterrupted by Occupational Injury, Illness and Disease!
