The History of MHSA
The MHSA was initially created by the Construction Safety Association in the early 1980s. It began operation as an independent organization in early 1986 and it received its “Association” status in 1996.
The program was initiated in response to a need by Ontario’s municipalities to have health and safety programs that were specific to their unique and varied operations. In 1998, this obvious need for programs geared towards municipalities became even more acute as the MHSA customer base increased from 50,000 to 250,000 municipal employees with the addition of Schedule 2 employers.
Today, the MHSA continues to service Municipal employees throuhgout Ontario, offering consulting and training programs to promote health and safety in the workplace. Our selection of training program offerings include, general, specialty, certification, Emergency Services, hands-on, Online and Train-the-trainer programs.
